Soke’s “World Head of Family Sokeship” grandmasters council held it’s 15th Annual world gathering at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Antonio, Texas on May 23rd – 24th  . The event which featured a first ever tournament attracted  hundreds of participants from as far away as Russia, Israel, Malaysia & Trinidad. Chris Mason, a beginner student in San-Jitsu was the only one who entered the International tournament with all the activities we were busy with for his first ever competition & came away with a Bronze Medal against experienced competitors. Not bad for the first time out Chris, CONGRATULATIONS!  Students, Master Heinz Schedeireiter from Germany; Senseis Jimmy Rutherford, Chris Marquez, Matthew Sanchez, Phillip & Glenda Spears, as well as students Chris Mason & Natalie Hijar all received awards for their contributions/ loyalty to San-Jitsu with Soke receiving a special award from Dr Robert O’Block, CEO of the American Board of Homeland Security for his work in the “advancement of the combat arts”.  Great job, guys & a special “thank you” to Sensei Phillip & Glenda Spears for doing a fantastic job of putting the whole thing together for Soke & to Sensei Matthew Sanchez as well,  for doing a spectacular job of  emceeing the event!

IN INTERNATIONAL NEWS…….

We received a nice mention on the website of  WAMA (Westside Aerobics & Martial Arts Club ) out of Santa Cruz, California….under an article written on the “Fighting Arts of the Pacific Islands”, since San-Jitsu is one of the few internationally recognized arts to originate from the Pacific Islands & as it is mentioned in an unsolicited article, I thought I would draw your attention to it. It explains the Pacific Island arts & their philosophies very eloquently. You can visit their link at
